What We Do : The 2008 LIVE OUT LOUD Educational Scholarship
 OVERVIEW
The LIVE OUT LOUD Educational Scholarship was created to provide financial support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) youth who are pursuing a college degree. Through this scholarship, LGBT youth can apply for monies to pay for educationally related expenses to pursue a degree from an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational program. This year LIVE OUT LOUD is awarding 4 scholarships for $ 2,500.00 each.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES & CRITERIA
- This award is open only to Graduating Seniors who identify as LGBT, and to those LGBT graduates who may have deferred attending an educational institution for one year following graduation.
- Applicants need to be from the New York Tri-State area, including New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
- Award criteria are based on the academic credentials, personal essay, past leadership and community service involvement, an individual interview, financial need and future goals.
- You must send (a) the completed application form; (b) TWO letters of recommendation.
- Finalist must participate in an individual interview that will be scheduled in early April 2008.
- The scholarships will be awarded at a ceremony honoring the youth on the evening of Monday, April 28th, 2008.
- All applications must be complete for consideration. No awards will be granted other than those listed above.
- LIVE OUT LOUD Education and Scholarship Committee must receive all applications no later than March 31st, 2008. Any incomplete applications will not be considered.
- LIVE OUT LOUD is not required to award all 4 scholarships annually. Awards are given only to applicants approved
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDING PROCESS
Scholarship awards will not be distributed until the Education and Scholarship Committee receives all required documentation, including copy of acceptance letter from school or vocational program and verification of attendance by the relevant admissions office. The LIVE OUT LOUD Education and Scholarship Committee will distribute awards directly to the educational institution only, and only upon verification of attendance. Completed applications should be submitted to the LIVE OUT LOUD Education and Scholarship Committee for review and final recommendation. Send your application to:
